THE INTERCHANGE THAT COULD CHANGE CAVITE
Kawit
For motorists moving between Cavite and Manila, some of the most important infrastructure is not measured by how long a road is, but by how seamlessly one road connects to another. That is what makes the CALAX Kawit Interchange particularly significant. Located along CALAX Subsection 1, the interchange will connect directly to the CAVITEX–CALAX Link Expressway, or CCLINK, leading toward the CAVITEX Kawit Toll Plaza. It will also provide access to Centennial Road and the growing Evo City estate. Once the connection is completed, motorists traveling from CALAX toward Manila will no longer need to navigate the busy intersections around Gahak and Zeus before entering CAVITEX. The real breakthrough is not another interchange—it is the creation of an uninterrupted expressway-to-expressway journey that could make Cavite feel noticeably closer to Metro Manila.
That direct connection could fundamentally change how traffic moves through Kawit. Instead of funneling expressway users back onto local roads before reaching another tollway, CCLINK is designed to create a more continuous corridor between CALAX and CAVITEX. The Kawit Viaduct Extension has already been linked to CCLINK, while work continues on the remaining connecting portions, including road concreting needed to complete the link with the main CALAX alignment. Its strategic position also places the interchange beside one of Cavite’s emerging development zones, where new residential, retail, business, and township projects are steadily reshaping the landscape. Infrastructure becomes especially powerful when it does two things at once: shorten an existing journey and open new areas to economic activity. Kawit is increasingly positioned to benefit from both.
Once the entire corridor becomes operational, the Kawit Interchange could emerge as one of CALAX’s busiest and most strategically important junctions. For commuters, it promises a smoother route between Southern Cavite, CALAX, CAVITEX, and Metro Manila. For businesses and property developments, improved accessibility can expand the number of customers, workers, residents, and investors who can reach the area more conveniently. And for Kawit itself, the interchange reinforces its changing role from a town motorists simply pass through into a major gateway within Cavite’s expanding transport network. The biggest infrastructure stories are not always about building farther. Sometimes they are about finally connecting what was already there. At Kawit, two expressways are about to meet—and that connection could redraw the way Cavite moves.
