Qualifying is step one — a seat comes through counselling:
All India Quota (15% of seats): conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at mcc.nic.in. Round 1 registration is expected to begin around 21 July 2026 (tentative — confirm on mcc.nic.in).
State Quota (85% of seats): handled by each state's medical counselling authority, with separate registration.
Expect 4–5 rounds, each running about 10–15 days, covering MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and allied programmes.
Do this now: keep your scorecard, rank letter, category certificate, and ID documents ready, and register on both MCC and your state portal the moment windows open — seats move fast.
Why was there a re-test?
NEET-UG 2026 made headlines because the original exam was cancelled and a re-test ("Re-NEET") held on 21 June 2026, following an alleged paper-leak case now under investigation. The result declared on 16 July is from that re-test.
