In a new development in the Greater Noida dowry death case, Nikki Bhati reportedly informed doctors in her final statement that she sustained burn injuries from a fire ignited at her in-laws' home caused by a cylinder explosion. According to sources, this was reportedly disclosed by a nurse and a doctor at Fortis Hospital, where Nikki was hospitalized, in their police statement.

The recent disclosure indicates a change from previous claims that Nikki, 26, was ignited with a combustible substance by her spouse Vipin Bhati and his relatives due to dowry requests.

Nonetheless, authorities found no indication of a gas cylinder blast at her home. Authorities are currently looking into the reasons behind Nikki's statement and whether she was compelled to make it.

Vipin, along with his parents and his brother Rohit, who is wed to Nikki's sister Kanchan, has been apprehended in the case. On Sunday, Vipin was wounded in the leg while reportedly attempting to flee from police custody.

In their accounts, both the physician and the nurse claimed that when Nikki arrived at the hospital, she was still speaking.

Fortis Hospital's memo in Hindi mentions, "Ghar par gas cylinder phatne se mariz ko bhari jalaan lagi hai (The patient has sustained serious burns due to a gas cylinder blast)."

The police reviewed the CCTV footage from Fortis Hospital, revealing that Devendra, Nikki's neighbor, was the one driving the car. Sitting in the backseat were Nikki, along with her mother-in-law and father-in-law. Rohit was also captured in the CCTV footage.

WHAT THE VICTIM'S SISTER ALLEGED

The FIR, stemming from Kanchan's complaint, states that Nikki was intentionally set on fire by her in-laws in front of her six-year-old son for failing to meet their dowry requirements.

Kanchan claimed that even though their family provided an SUV and other valuables during the marriage, Nikki's in-laws continued to ask for additional dowry.

Social media is highlighting video clips that depict Nikki being attacked and pulled by her hair by her in-laws.

Kanchan stated she was at the location when the event occurred but was unable to rescue her sister. Both sisters tied the knot in 2016 to the same family.
