Veteran actor Dharmendra is recalling and honoring the cinematographer of his legendary film ‘Sholay’. On Sunday, the actor posted a nostalgic photo on his Instagram featuring himself with the late Dwarka Divecha, the cinematographer of ‘Sholay’.

He also wrote a message in the caption honoring the deceased artist and encouraged his followers to explore the pages of the DOP's biography.

He stated, “The late Shri Dwarka Divecha, cinematography director (‘Sholay'). He was consistently very affectionate and kind to everyone. The individuals operating the camera are rarely acknowledged, yet they deliver us onto the Silver screen. “Kindly read his life story.”

Dwarka Divecha was additionally an actor and appeared on screen alongside Shammi Kapoor and Padmini in ‘Singapore’. He also participated in designing the sets for 'Sholay,' regarded as the first Western Spaghetti film in Hindi cinema. The film featured a cast including Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Amjad Khan, Sanjeev Kumar, A. K. Hangal, Sachin, and Hema Malini.

The movie stands out as one of the finest in Hindi cinema, thanks to its magnificence, performances, technical excellence, action, music, and direction. It ranked first in the British Film Institute's 2002 list of "Top 10 Indian Films" ever. The screenplay was crafted by the iconic writing team of Salim-Javed, and it became one of the longest-running films in Indian cinema.

Previously, Ramesh Sippy, the director of the legendary film ‘Sholay', recounted a fascinating story about his observation of the audience's response to the film in theaters upon its release.

The director conversed with IANS prior to the film's 50th anniversary and discussed the occasion when a cinema owner invited him to observe the audience's immediate reactions during its screening.

He informed IANS, "A film industry individual contacted me." He stated, ‘Join me at my movie theater'. It was the cinema City Light. He asked, ‘Are you able to see over there? "Nobody is arriving here to enjoy a cold beverage." There was a break. “Nobody showed up.”

“He asked, ‘Are you aware of the reason?’ Since those present in the hall were extremely focused. They acted as though they had never encountered anything like this. I asked, ‘Are you certain?'. He responded, "Definitely." I observe it daily. “They do not arrive during the interval,” the director stated.
