Looking for a countryside escape that feels anything but ordinary? Happy Farm in the Tropics in Santa Ignacia, Tarlac offers a vibrant alternative to the usual minimalist resort aesthetic.

Founder Bernadette Lim describes the property’s design as “Moroccopino,” a mix of Moroccan-inspired architecture and Filipino craftsmanship. Pink lime-wash walls, cobalt blue and yellow accents sit alongside rattan, bamboo, amakan, anahaw, Machuca tiles, seashells and capiz details, creating a colorful setting surrounded by greenery.
The property operates as a private farm stay and resort, with accommodations and spaces designed for families, couples and intimate celebrations. Its visual identity is one of its strongest draws, especially for travelers looking for a relaxing countryside getaway with plenty of character and photo-worthy corners.

According to Lim, the property currently features four distinct villas. Bahay Kubo is a three-bedroom elevated home inspired by indigenous Filipino architecture and includes a mineral pool overlooking the surrounding farmland. Sampaguita Suite is positioned as a romantic option, featuring a private swim spa and a eucalyptus tree growing within the space.
The Bougainvillea and Banaba duplex villas combine Moroccan arches and patterns with local Filipino art and furnishings. Guests can also order from an à la carte menu that includes grilled “Tinuno” meals, Moroccan-inspired Salmon Bastilla, tilapia from the farm’s pond and other dishes. The resort also offers several dining settings around the property, including garden, gazebo and al fresco areas.

Happy Farm in the Tropics also caters to smaller celebrations through spaces such as its air-conditioned Pavi ballroom and Sikretong Hardin, which the owner says are intended for intimate gatherings of up to 100 people. Lim says the longer-term goal is to keep the property private and relaxed rather than transform it into a high-volume resort. Future plans include featuring more work from Filipino artisans, planting endemic species and developing an edible forest that can support farm-to-table dining. Current listings confirm that Happy Farm in the Tropics remains active as a farm stay in Santa Ignacia, while its official contact number is listed as 0917 650 6261. Guests should confirm current rates, villa availability, meal arrangements and event packages directly with the resort before visiting.
