The Gucci Softbit Is Still One of the House’s Most Relaxed Horsebit Bags
Manila
Introduced for Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2025 collection, the Gucci Softbit offers a softer, slouchier interpretation of the house’s equestrian codes. The bag is defined by its oversized Half Horsebit, which works as both a decorative detail and magnetic closure across the front. Gucci currently describes the Softbit as a relaxed shoulder bag made from grainy leather, with a microfiber-lined interior and detachable pouch. The Maxi measures approximately 46 centimeters wide, 26 centimeters high, and 16 centimeters deep, making it large enough for everyday essentials while keeping the loose hobo silhouette that made it popular when it first launched. Importantly, the Softbit is not simply a 2025 seasonal piece: Gucci’s official website still features the bag in its current storytelling and product lineup in 2026.
The original Philippine launch offered two key versions: an oversized Maxi shoulder bag and a smaller Medium top-handle bag. At launch in April 2025, Preview reported Philippine prices of ₱213,000 for the Maxi and ₱184,000 for the Medium, with colors including black, brown, white, dark green, taupe, and Gucci’s Rosso Ancora red depending on size. Those figures should now be treated as historical launch prices rather than guaranteed current Philippine retail prices. Gucci’s international site currently lists the Maxi at US$3,700 in the United States and SGD3,220 in Singapore, showing that the bag remains commercially available but that pricing varies by market and may have changed since its Philippine debut.
Part of the Softbit’s appeal has been how easily it moves between polished and off-duty styling. In the Philippines, Janine Gutierrez wore the brown Maxi with a fitted striped knit dress, while Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey paired a smaller burgundy version with jeans and a ringer tee. Liz Uy styled a deep green Maxi with denim, while international stars including IVE’s Leeseo, Ashley Choi, Kim Na Young, Shin Hyun Ji, and Yoon Ejae have also been photographed carrying different versions. Since Gucci has since entered the Demna era, newer handbag designs have joined the lineup, but the Softbit continues to stand as one of the house’s more understated options for shoppers who prefer a recognizable Gucci code without an allover monogram.
